Pedagogical Commentary: Li Shizhen: the story of a great man's perseverance and contribution: 1. The transparency of form: Observing 父 (fù) or 穷 (qióng) helps connect the character's shape to its meaning, instead of memorizing it blindly. 2. The leap from character to word: These characters are rarely used alone; learning one opens the door to many new words. 3. Memory through context: Learning a character like 因 (yīn) together with a real sentence helps far more than memorizing its meaning in isolation.
