/En el mar vive un animal inteligente: el delfín./A clever animal lives in the sea: the dolphin.
It is very close to humans and often helps them do beneficial things, such as serving as a voluntary “navigator” at sea, guiding ships around reefs and safely to their destinations.
“¡Cielos!/One day in 1880, thick fog covered Bellorus Bay in New Zealand, and a ship sailed across a sea full of reefs. “Heavens!
/¿Cómo distinguir el rumbo?” gritaba el capitán desesperado./How can we tell the route?” the captain shouted in despair.
He understood that where a dolphin leaps, the water must be deep, so there was no danger of hitting a reef.
/Entonces decidió seguir a ese delfín./So the captain decided to follow this dolphin.
/Curiosamente, el delfín parecía haber venido especialmente a guiarlo, llevando al barco a través de la densa niebla, esquivando los arrecifes, y finalmente sacándolo sano y salvo de la bahía./Strangely, the dolphin seemed to have come specifically to guide them, leading the ship through the thick fog, around the reefs, and finally guiding it safely out of the bay.
/Los marineros, felices, llamaron al delfín “Pelorus Jack”./The sailors happily named this dolphin “Pelorus Jack.”
From then on, every time that ship passed through, it would meet this faithful “navigator.”
This dolphin worked as “navigator” every day, without a single accident occurring, for 32 years.
/Después, la gente encontró su cuerpo en una grieta de las rocas del fondo marino./Later, people found its body in a crevice of the seabed rocks.
To thank it for everything it had done, people held a solemn funeral for it and even built a monument in its honor.
The New Zealand government also issued a special law to protect dolphins, calling on people to protect dolphins and marine animals.

In the middle of the Dragon Gate flows the Yellow River, and on both banks, carts and horses cannot pass through.
Lóngmén。/Cada año, a finales de la primavera, carpas amarillas nadan a través del mar y muchos ríos grandes, compitiendo por llegar a la Puerta del Dragón./Every year in late spring, yellow carp swim across the sea and many great rivers, competing to arrive at the Dragon Gate.
As soon as the carp climbs up to the Dragon Gate, clouds and rain follow it, and fire falls from the sky burning its tail from behind; once the tail is burned off, the carp turns into a dragon.
In a whole year, the carp that manage to climb the Dragon Gate do not exceed seventy-two.
An old saying goes: once a carp leaps over the Dragon Gate it can become a dragon, but only those carp that leap over the Dragon Gate can turn into dragons.
The story of “the carp leaping over the Dragon Gate” has inspired many determined people to strive hard for their ideals.
Pedagogical Commentary: The adorable panda: describing wildlife behavior: 1. The transparency of form: Observing 肩 (jiān) or 圈 (quān) helps connect the character's shape to its meaning, instead of memorizing it blindly. 2. The leap from character to word: These characters are rarely used alone; learning one opens the door to many new words. 3. Memory through context: Learning a character like 般 (bān) together with a real sentence helps far more than memorizing its meaning in isolation.
