Guìlín/Guilín sobre el mar/Guilin on the Sea
/Cuando llegues a la ciudad de Ha Long en Vietnam, tienes que tomar un barco para contemplar el hermoso paisaje de la bahía de Ha Long, el “Guilín sobre el mar”; de lo contrario, te arrepentirás./When you arrive in Ha Long City, Vietnam, you must take a boat to admire the beautiful scenery of Ha Long Bay, “Guilin on the Sea”; otherwise you'll regret it.
/Desde la isla de Shaotan, en la ciudad de Ha Long, se toma un barco hacia el sur; tras más de media hora de navegación, el hermoso paisaje de la bahía de Ha Long se despliega ante los ojos./From Shaotan Island in Ha Long City, you board a boat heading south; after more than half an hour of sailing, the beautiful scenery of Ha Long Bay unfolds before your eyes.
The peaks over the sea here really do resemble Guilin's mountains a bit.
/Se elevan directamente desde el agua, con formas todas distintas, sumamente hermosas./They rise straight up out of the water, each with its own distinct shape, exceedingly beautiful.
/Algunas parecen hadas, otras leones majestuosos, otras portalápices, otras velas de barco... llenas de poesía y pintura, de habilidad sobrehumana, dejan a la gente asombrada./Some look like fairies, some like majestic lions, some like brush stands, some like ship sails... full of poetic charm, of superhuman craftsmanship, leaving people amazed.
Among them are two small hills that look like a pair of roosters fighting, called “Fighting Cocks Mountain,” with an extremely lifelike shape.
/También hay una montaña llamada “Montaña del Poema”; se dice que fue porque, hace quinientos años, un emperador que estaba de viaje por mar llegó hasta aquí, y al ver el hermoso paisaje de la bahía de Ha Long, no pudo contener su inspiración poética, y con el pincel escribió un poema en chino tallado en la ladera de la montaña; de ahí viene el nombre “Montaña del Poema”./There is also a mountain called “Poem Mountain”; it's said this is because, five hundred years ago, an emperor traveling by sea came here, and upon seeing the beautiful scenery of Ha Long Bay, couldn't help but feel a burst of poetic inspiration, and with his brush wrote a Chinese poem carved into the mountainside; that's how “Poem Mountain” got its name.
All these various and colorful mountains, as long as you have a rich imagination, can each be given an interesting name.
These small mountains also hide many beautiful rock caves, among which the most famous is “Heavenly Palace Cave.”
It was accidentally discovered in 1996 by two fishermen taking shelter from a typhoon.
Its cave entrance is halfway up the mountainside; viewed from outside, the entrance is very small, but inside it is extremely large.
/Dentro de la cueva hay por todas partes estalactitas de formas extrañísimas, y bajo el resplandor de las luces de colores, algunas parecen un Buda sentado, otras la Bella Durmiente, y otras una pareja de jóvenes enamorados./Inside the cave there are strangely shaped stalactites everywhere, and under the glow of various colored lights, some look like a seated Buddha, some like Sleeping Beauty, and some like a young couple in love talking sweet nothings.
/Este paisaje asombroso e incomparable parece como si las cuevas de Guilín se hubieran trasladado a la bahía de Ha Long./This incomparably wondrous scenery seems as if Guilin's caves had been moved to Ha Long Bay.
/El mar de la bahía de Ha Long es azul, y el cielo también lo es./Ha Long Bay's sea is blue, and the sky is blue too.
/Mirando hacia la lejanía, el mar y el cielo se funden en un solo color, una belleza que abruma los sentidos./Looking into the distance, the sea and sky blend into a single color, a beauty too much to take in.
Long Bay's seawater is so clear, you can see fish swimming in the water, and in the shallow spots you can even see the coral and seaweed on the seabed.
The tour guide told us that, in remote antiquity, this place was originally dry land, just like Guilin in China.
/Después la corteza terrestre se hundió, y el agua del mar inundó esta zona; la mayor parte del cuerpo de las montañas quedó sumergida en el agua del mar, y solo la parte superior de las montañas sobresalía sobre la superficie del mar, dando la apariencia de que hubieran surgido del mar más de mil ochocientas montañas de formas extrañas y sin conectarse entre sí, lo cual creó el hermoso paisaje del “Guilín sobre el mar”./Later the earth's crust sank, and seawater flooded this area; most of the mountain bodies were submerged in the seawater, with only the tops of the mountains poking above the sea's surface, making it look as if more than eighteen hundred oddly shaped, unconnected mountains had emerged on the sea's surface, and this is what created the beautiful scenery of “Guilin on the Sea.”
/“Guilín sobre el mar” realmente hace honor a su nombre./“Guilin on the Sea” truly lives up to its name.
