Shén bǐ Mǎ Liáng/Ma Liang y el pincel mágico/Ma Liang and the Magic Brush **
/Érase una vez un niño llamado Ma Liang./Once upon a time there was a child named Ma Liang.
/A Ma Liang le gustaba mucho pintar, pero su familia era muy pobre, ni siquiera tenía un pincel./Ma Liang loved to paint, but his family was very poor, he didn't even have a paintbrush.
When he went up the mountain to gather firewood, he would pick up a branch to use as a brush, drawing birds flying in the sky on the sand.
When he went to the riverside to cut grass, he would use grass roots as a brush, drawing fish swimming in the water on the riverbank.
/Dibujaba lo que veía, dibujaba con mucha seriedad, con mucho esfuerzo./He drew whatever he saw, drawing very earnestly, drawing very diligently.
/Pero seguía sin tener un pincel./But he still had no brush.
一天yìtiān晚上wǎnshang,有位yǒuwèi白胡子báihúzi老爷爷走来lǎoyéyezǒulái对duì他说tāshuō:“马良Mǎ Liáng,我wǒ送给sònggěi你nǐ一支yìzhī笔bǐ,去qù给gěi穷人qióngrén画画儿huàhuàr吧ba!”/Una noche, un anciano de barba blanca se le acercó y le dijo: “Ma Liang, te doy un pincel, ¡ve y pinta para los pobres!”/One evening, an old man with a white beard came to him and said: “Ma Liang, I'll give you a brush, go paint for the poor!”
/Ma Liang se puso muy contento, tomó el pincel, y dibujó en la pared un gran gallo./Ma Liang was overjoyed, took the brush, and drew a big rooster on the wall.
The rooster flew down off the wall, crowing “cock-a-doodle-doo.”
It turns out, what the old man gave him was a magic brush.
With this magic brush, Ma Liang painted for the poor of the village every day.
/Un día, vio a un viejo campesino y a un niño tirando de un arado para labrar la tierra, pero como el suelo era duro, no podían moverlo./One day, he saw an old farmer and a child pulling a plow to till the field, but since the soil was hard, they couldn't move it.
/Ma Liang sacó el pincel mágico, y les dibujó un buey viejo, y con un “mooo...” el buey bajó al campo a tirar del arado./Ma Liang took out the magic brush, and drew them an old ox, and with a “moo...”, the ox went down into the field to pull the plow.
A powerful official heard that Ma Liang had a magic brush, and captured him, demanding he paint gold.
/Ma Liang se negó, así que el funcionario lo encerró en prisión./Ma Liang refused, so the official locked him in prison.
At midnight, the soldier guarding the prison fell into a deep sleep, and Ma Liang, with the magic brush, drew a door on the wall, opened it right away, and taking the poor people locked inside with him, they escaped.
/El funcionario, al recibir el reporte, envió gente a perseguirlos, y capturó a Ma Liang de nuevo./The official, upon receiving the report, sent people to chase them, and captured Ma Liang again.
The official became furious, and ordered his subordinates to snatch away Ma Liang's magic brush, giving it to a painter, demanding he paint a money tree on the wall.
/Apenas terminó de pintarse el árbol, el funcionario se lanzó impaciente hacia él, y con un “¡pum!”, su cabeza chocó contra la pared, y en su frente apareció de inmediato un gran chichón./As soon as the tree was finished painting, the official impatiently pounced on it, and with a “bang!”, his head hit the wall, and on his forehead immediately appeared a big bump.
The official understood that the magic brush belonged to Ma Liang, and that once separated from him, it became an ordinary brush.
大官只好dàguānzhǐhǎo把bǎ马良放出来Mǎ Liángfàngchūlai,对duì他说tāshuō:“好hǎo马良Mǎ Liáng,你给nǐgěi我画幅wǒhuàfú画儿吧huàrba!”/El funcionario no tuvo más remedio que liberar a Ma Liang, y le dijo: “Buen Ma Liang, ¡píntame un cuadro!”/The official had no choice but to release Ma Liang, and said to him: “Good Ma Liang, paint me a picture!”
/Ma Liang, para recuperar el pincel mágico, aceptó./Ma Liang, in order to recover the magic brush, agreed.
The official gave him back the magic brush, and ordered him to paint a mountain of gold.
/Ma Liang le pintó una montaña de oro, brillando con luz dorada, toda la montaña era de oro./Ma Liang really did paint him a mountain of gold, shining with golden light, the whole mountain was gold.
/El funcionario saltaba de alegría./The official jumped with joy.
/Ma Liang luego dibujó un mar alrededor de la montaña de oro./Ma Liang then drew a sea around the mountain of gold.
/El funcionario dijo: “¡Rápido, pinta un gran barco!/The official said: “Quick, paint a big boat!
Ma Liang entonces dibujó un gran barco./I want to go to the gold mountain to transport gold.” Ma Liang then drew a big boat.
/El funcionario se subió al barco./The official boarded the boat.
/Ma Liang dibujó unos trazos de viento, y las velas blancas del mástil se hincharon de viento, navegando directamente hacia la montaña de oro./Ma Liang drew a few strokes of wind, and the white sails on the mast filled with wind, sailing straight towards the gold mountain.
大官还dàguānhái嫌xián船慢chuánmàn,便biàn挥动huīdòng着zhe拳头quántou,大声叫喊dàshēngjiàohǎn:“唉āi!/El funcionario, insatisfecho con la velocidad, agitó el puño y gritó: “¡Eh!/The official, dissatisfied with the speed, waved his fist and shouted: “Hey!
风fēng再zài大些dàxiē!”/¡Que el viento sea más fuerte!”/Let the wind be stronger!”
/Ma Liang añadió unos trazos gruesos de viento, y el mar de repente comenzó a agitarse violentamente./Ma Liang added some thick strokes of wind, and the sea suddenly began to churn violently.
大官心里dàguānxīnli害怕hàipà,叫jiào着zhe:“风够了fēnggòule!/El funcionario se asustó, y gritó: “¡Basta de viento!/The official became frightened, and shouted: “Enough wind!
/Ma Liang lo ignoró, y siguió dibujando viento sin cesar./Ma Liang ignored him, and kept on drawing wind incessantly.
The wind grew fiercer, the waves grew bigger, the big boat capsized, and the official sank to the bottom of the sea.
/Ma Liang volvió con los pobres, y siguió pintando para ellos./Ma Liang returned to the poor, and continued painting for them.
