从前Cóngqián，一位yíwèi老农民lǎonóngmín有yǒu三个sānge儿子érzi。/Érase una vez, un viejo campesino tenía tres hijos./Once upon a time, an old farmer had three sons.
他们Tāmen虽然suīrán都dōu长大了zhǎngdà le，但是dànshì个个gègè都dōu不bù喜欢xǐhuan干活儿gànhuór，无法wúfǎ养活yǎnghuó自己zìjǐ。/Aunque ya habían crecido, a ninguno le gustaba trabajar y no podían mantenerse a sí mismos./Although they had all grown up, none of them liked to work, and they couldn't support themselves.
到了Dàole春天chūntiān，天气tiānqì变暖了biàn nuǎn le。/Cuando llegó la primavera, el tiempo se volvió cálido./When spring came, the weather turned warm.
一天Yìtiān晚上wǎnshang，老人lǎorén把bǎ三个sān ge儿子érzi叫到jiàodào面前miànqián，对duì他们tāmen说shuō：/Una noche, el anciano llamó a sus tres hijos ante él y les dijo:/One evening, the old man called his three sons before him and said:
“孩子们Háizimen，我wǒ已经yǐjīng老了lǎo le。/“Hijos míos, ya soy viejo./“My children, I am already old.
你们Nǐmen以后yǐhòu总得zǒngděi自己zìjǐ养活yǎnghuó自己zìjǐ啊a！/De ahora en adelante tendréis que manteneros vosotros mismos./From now on you must support yourselves.
我Wǒ把bǎ三块地sānkuàidì分给fēngěi你们nǐmen，每měi块地里kuàidìlǐ都dōu埋着máizhe金子jīnzi。/Os voy a repartir tres parcelas de tierra; en cada una hay oro enterrado./I will divide three plots of land among you; gold is buried in each plot.
这些Zhèxiē金子jīnzi是shì我wǒ送sòng给gěi你们nǐmen的de。/Este oro es un regalo que os hago./This gold is a gift I am giving you.
你们Nǐmen只要zhǐyào肯kěn出chū力气lìqi，下xià工夫gōngfu挖wā地dì，就jiù一定yídìng会huì挖wā到dào金子jīnzi。”/Mientras estéis dispuestos a esforzaros y dediquéis tiempo y empeño a cavar la tierra, seguro que encontraréis el oro.”/As long as you are willing to work hard and put in the effort to dig the land, you will surely find the gold.”
第二Dì-èr天tiān天tiān刚gāng亮liàng，三个sān ge儿子érzi就jiù去qù挖wā地dì了le。/Al día siguiente, en cuanto amaneció, los tres hijos fueron a cavar la tierra./The next day, as soon as it got light, the three sons went to dig the land.
他们Tāmen挖了wāle一天yìtiān又yòu一天yìtiān，把bǎ父亲fùqin分给fēngěi他们tāmen的de地dì全quán挖遍了wā biàn le，都dōu没有méiyǒu找到zhǎodào金子jīnzi。/Cavaron día tras día, removiendo por completo la tierra que su padre les había repartido, pero no encontraron oro./They dug day after day, digging through all the land their father had given them, but they never found any gold.
他们Tāmen不bù死心sǐxīn，挖了wāle一遍yíbiàn又yòu一遍yíbiàn，还是háishi没有méiyǒu找到zhǎodào金子jīnzi。/No se resignaban, así que cavaron una y otra vez, pero seguían sin encontrar el oro./They wouldn't give up, so they dug over and over again, but they still didn't find any gold.
他们Tāmen认为rènwéi父亲fùqin骗了piànle他们tāmen，最后zuìhòu只好zhǐhǎo在地里zài dìlǐ种上了zhòngshàngle庄稼zhuāngjia。/Pensaron que su padre les había engañado, y al final no tuvieron más remedio que sembrar cultivos en la tierra./They thought their father had tricked them, and in the end they had no choice but to plant crops in the land.

一天Yìtiān晚上wǎnshang，老人lǎorén又yòu把bǎ三个sān ge儿子érzi叫到jiàodào面前miànqián，对duì他们tāmen说shuō：/Una noche, el anciano volvió a llamar a sus tres hijos ante él y les dijo:/One evening, the old man again called his three sons before him and said:
