你真是个nǐzhēnshìge傻瓜shǎguā/Eres un verdadero tonto/You Really Are a Fool
On May 23, 1885, at age 83, Victor Hugo unfortunately passed away, the French government immediately announced a state funeral for him, to express mourning for this great man of letters.
/La carrera literaria de Hugo comenzó escribiendo poesía./Hugo's literary career began with writing poetry.
/El director era un educador extremadamente severo, y su asistente, Delaunay, era un tipo frío y violento./The principal was an extremely strict educator, and his assistant, Delaunay, was a cold and violent fellow.
/Exigían obediencia absoluta de los estudiantes, sin permitir ningún pensamiento libre./They demanded absolute obedience from students, allowing no free thought whatsoever.
/Aunque Hugo era joven, era una persona que le gustaba pensar, y su insatisfacción con la realidad social a menudo lo sumía en dolor y confusión./Although Hugo was young, he was a person who loved to think, and his dissatisfaction with social reality often plunged him into pain and confusion.
用什么yòngshénme来lái表达biǎodá内心的nèixīnde情感呢qínggǎnne?/¿Cómo expresar sus sentimientos internos?/How to express his inner feelings?
/Hugo pensó en escribir poesía./Hugo thought of writing poetry.
/Hugo, en cuanto tenía tiempo libre, reflexionaba con esfuerzo, y luego, escondiéndose sigilosamente, anotaba versos en su cuaderno./Hugo, whenever he had free time, thought hard, and then, hiding quietly, wrote verses in his notebook.
The school forbade students from writing poetry, so Hugo very carefully locked his notebook in a drawer.
/Los poemas en su cuaderno aumentaban cada vez más./The poems in his notebook grew more and more numerous.
By age 15, Hugo's poems were already quite well written.
/Un día, el cajón de Hugo fue forzado./One day, Hugo's drawer was forced open.
Dégāotègànde。/Fue obra de Delaunay./It was Delaunay's doing.
/Hugo fue llamado a la oficina de la escuela, donde el director y Delaunay tenían una expresión severa./Hugo was called to the school office, where the principal and Delaunay wore stern expressions.
/Delaunay golpeó los cuadernos de Hugo, y lo regañó: “Está prohibido que los alumnos escriban poesía, la escuela lo ha repetido varias veces./Delaunay slapped Hugo's notebooks, and scolded him: “Students are forbidden from writing poetry, the school has repeated this many times.
你好大的nǐhǎodàde胆dǎn,竟敢违反jìnggǎnwéifǎn校规xiàoguī!”/¡Qué atrevimiento tan grande el tuyo, atreverte a violar las reglas escolares!”/What great nerve you have, daring to violate school rules!”
雨果反问道Yǔguǒfǎnwèndào:“可是kěshì,谁允许shéiyǔnxǔ您随便nínsuíbiàn撬qiào别人的biérénde抽屉呢chōutìne?”/Hugo replicó: “Pero, ¿quién le permitió a usted forzar el cajón de otra persona sin permiso?”/Hugo retorted: “But who gave you permission to force open someone else's drawer without asking?”
德高特大叫Dégāotèdàjiào起来qǐlai:“你太放肆了nǐtàifàngsìle!/Delaunay gritó: “¡Eres demasiado insolente!/Delaunay shouted: “You're too insolent!
你想被nǐxiǎngbèi开除吗kāichúma?”/¿Quieres que te expulsen?”/Do you want to be expelled?”
雨果并不害怕Yǔguǒbìngbùhàipà,他勇敢地tāyǒnggǎnde说shuō:“把bǎ笔记本还给bǐjìběnháigěi我wǒ,这是zhèshì我的wǒde东西dōngxi!”/Hugo no tuvo miedo, y dijo valientemente: “¡Devuélvame el cuaderno, es mío!”/Hugo wasn't afraid at all, and bravely said: “Give me back my notebook, this is my property!”
/Le devolvieron el cuaderno./The notebook was given back to him.
/Después de recibir una reprimenda, Hugo salió en silencio de la oficina./After receiving a scolding, Hugo silently walked out of the office.
/Por suerte, la escuela no lo expulsó, había vencido./Luckily, the school didn't expel him, he had won.
/Ese año, la Academia de París organizó un concurso de poesía, y Hugo quiso intentarlo./That year, the Paris Academy organized a poetry contest, and Hugo wanted to give it a try.
/Le contó su idea a un joven maestro que lo apoyaba, y le habló de su concepto./He told his idea to a young teacher who supported him, and talked to him about his concept.
/El joven maestro admiró mucho su talento y determinación, y lo animó a escribir el poema rápidamente para participar en el concurso./The young teacher greatly admired his talent and drive, and encouraged him to quickly write the poem to enter the contest.
/Al día siguiente el poema ya estaba listo, el joven maestro se puso muy contento, y llevó a Hugo directamente a la oficina de la Academia, entregando el poema a un secretario./The next day the poem was ready, the young teacher was delighted, and took Hugo straight to the Academy's office, handing the poem to a secretary.
A few days passed, and when Hugo was playing with classmates, he saw his elder brother approaching from a distance.
大哥来有什么事dàgēláiyǒushénmeshì呢ne?/¿Qué asunto lo traería?/What business would bring him here?
His elder brother came up to Hugo, and patting his head, said: “Your contest poem received high praise, it was highly commended.
You're a real fool, if you hadn't written your age, you could have won a medal, now it can only be praise.
谁叫shéijiào你只有nǐzhǐyǒu15岁呢suìne?”/¿Quién te mandó tener solo 15 años?”/Who told you to be only 15 years old?”
Solo el famoso y frío señor Delaunay, al ver a Hugo, mostró una sonrisa incómoda./The news that Hugo had been praised spread through the school like the wind, and classmates one after another congratulated him. Only that famously cold Mr. Delaunay, upon seeing Hugo, showed an awkward smile.
/Pero, desde entonces, la escuela nunca más interfirió con la escritura de poesía de Hugo./But, from then on, the school never again interfered with Hugo's poetry writing.

Pedagogical Commentary: Brush Master Li: the legend of a craftsman and a moment of shame:
1. The transparency of form: Observing 仆 (pú) or 贪 (tān) helps connect the character's shape to its meaning, instead of memorizing it blindly.
2. The leap from character to word: These characters are rarely used alone; learning one opens the door to many new words.
3. Memory through context: Learning a character like 待 (dāi) together with a real sentence helps far more than memorizing its meaning in isolation.
