/Un mono sembró un campo de maíz en la ladera de la montaña./A monkey planted a field of corn on a hillside.
/Llegó el otoño, el maíz del campo maduró, cada mazorca dorada y brillante./Autumn came, the corn in the field ripened, each ear golden yellow.
/El mono se puso muy contento, corrió rápidamente al campo, y se puso a cosechar maíz con esmero./The monkey was very happy, ran quickly into the field, and diligently started harvesting corn.
He picked one ear, and tucked it under his arm; picked another to tuck under the other arm, and while picking another, the one under his arm fell to the ground.
So, constantly picking and tucking, before he knew it, all the corn in the field had been picked, but the monkey still only had one ear in his hand.
猴子Hóuzi禁不住jīnbuzhù问wèn自己zìjǐ:“我Wǒ明明míngmíng掰了bāile很多hěnduō玉米yùmǐ,为什么wèishénme只zhǐ剩下shèngxià一个yíge呢ne?”/El mono no pudo evitar preguntarse: '¡Claramente cosechó mucho maíz, ¿por qué solo le queda uno?'/The monkey couldn't help asking himself: “I clearly picked a lot of corn, why is there only one left?”
大家Dàjiā也yě想xiǎng一想yìxiǎng,猴子hóuzi掰bāi的de玉米yùmǐ到dào哪儿nǎr去了qùle呢ne?/Pensad también vosotros, ¿adónde fue a parar el maíz que cosechó el mono?/Think about it too, where did the corn the monkey picked go?
Pedagogical Commentary: Monkeys scoop up the moon: action verbs and misunderstanding: 1. The transparency of form: Observing 捞 (lāo) or 晚 (wǎn) helps connect the character's shape to its meaning, instead of memorizing it blindly. 2. The leap from character to word: These characters are rarely used alone; learning one opens the door to many new words. 3. Memory through context: Learning a character like 群 (qún) together with a real sentence helps far more than memorizing its meaning in isolation.
