Yàlǐsīduōdé/Aristóteles/Aristotle
/Aristóteles fue uno de los grandes filósofos de la antigua Grecia./Aristotle was one of the great philosophers of ancient Greece.
From the age of 17, he studied under another great philosopher, Plato, until Plato's death.
/Aristóteles respetaba mucho a su maestro, pero solía discutir con él con frecuencia./Aristotle deeply respected his teacher, but often argued with him.
/Alguien lo reprendió, diciendo que no debía hacer eso./Someone reprimanded him, saying he shouldn't do that.
/Aristóteles respondió: “Aunque amo a mi maestro, amo más a la verdad.”/Aristotle replied: “Although I love my teacher, I love the truth more.”
The person who reprimanded him was left speechless, and this saying of Aristotle's became a famous saying for all time.
/Platón apreciaba mucho a Aristóteles, y en una ocasión dijo a otros: “Mi academia se compone de dos partes: los estudiantes comunes forman su cuerpo, mientras que Aristóteles es su cabeza.”/Plato thought very highly of Aristotle, and once said to others: “My academy is made up of two parts: the ordinary students form its body, while Aristotle is its head.”
/Aristóteles tenía un sirviente muy perezoso./Aristotle had a very lazy servant.
/Un día, Aristóteles tenía que salir por asuntos, y el sirviente le trajo un par de zapatos./One day, Aristotle had to go out on business, and the servant brought him a pair of shoes.
/Al mirarlos, Aristóteles vio que los zapatos estaban cubiertos de barro, que se les había pegado la última vez que salió, ya que este sirviente perezoso simplemente nunca los había limpiado./Looking at them, Aristotle saw the shoes were covered in mud, which had stuck to them the last time he went out, since this lazy servant simply had never cleaned them.
亚里Yàlǐ斯多德sīduōdé惊奇jīngqí地问dewèn:“你Nǐ为什么wèishénme不bù把bǎ鞋子xiézi刷shuā一刷yìshuā?”/Aristóteles, sorprendido, le preguntó: “¿Por qué no limpias los zapatos?”/Aristotle, surprised, asked: “Why don't you clean the shoes?”
The servant didn't feel in the slightest that he had done anything wrong, and instead confidently replied: “Right now, outside on the road, there's mud everywhere; no matter how clean I get them, before long they'll get muddy again anyway.”
/Aristóteles, al oírlo, se sintió muy molesto, pero pensándolo mejor, se dio cuenta de que enfadarse con esa clase de persona no servía de nada, así que sonrió levemente, se puso los zapatos y salió./Aristotle, hearing this, felt very displeased, but on second thought, realized that getting angry with such a person was useless, so he smiled faintly, put on his shoes and went out.
The servant was feeling quite pleased with his own cleverness, and as he watched Aristotle walk away, he suddenly remembered something, and hurriedly rushed after him: “You forgot to leave me the kitchen key, and I still need to eat lunch!”
亚里Yàlǐ斯多德sīduōdé故意gùyì装出zhuāngchū很hěn奇怪qíguài的de样子yàngzi,问道wèndào:“你吃午饭Nǐchīwǔfàn有什么用yǒushénmeyòng?/Aristóteles fingió deliberadamente una expresión de gran extrañeza, y le preguntó: “¿De qué te sirve comer el almuerzo?/Aristotle deliberately put on a very puzzled expression, and asked: “What use is it for you to eat lunch?
你吃过之后Nǐchīguòzhīhòu,用yòng不了bùliǎo多久duōjiǔ,还不是háibúshì又会yòuhuì和hé现在xiànzài一样yíyàng饿è!”/Después de comer, en poco tiempo, ¿no volverás a estar hambriento como ahora?”/After you eat, before long, won't you be hungry again just like now?”
/El sirviente, al oírlo, se quedó como atontado./The servant, hearing this, was left stunned.
/Pasó mucha hambre esa vez, y desde entonces cambió su mal hábito de la pereza./He went very hungry that time, and from then on changed his bad habit of laziness.
/El rey Filipo II de Macedonia también admiraba mucho la sabiduría de Aristóteles./King Philip II of Macedon also greatly admired Aristotle's learning.
/Decía de sí mismo que era un hombre inculto, pero que no podía dejar que su hijo también se convirtiera en un hombre inculto./He said of himself that he was an uneducated man, but that he couldn't let his son also become uneducated.
/Así que, pidió a Aristóteles que fuera el maestro de su hijo Alejandro./So, he asked Aristotle to be the tutor of his son Alexander.
/Más tarde, Filipo II fue asesinado, y Alejandro heredó el trono./Later, Philip II was assassinated, and Alexander inherited the throne.
/Dirigió al ejército en campañas por todas partes, obtuvo muchas victorias, fundó el Imperio de Alejandro, y se convirtió en el famoso Alejandro Magno de la historia./He led the army on campaigns everywhere, achieved many victories, established the Empire of Alexander, and became the famous Alexander the Great of history.
He once said: “Those who gave me my body are my parents, but the one who gave me wisdom is my teacher Aristotle.”
