Pedagogical Commentary: New Year arrives: the language of celebration and good wishes: 1. The transparency of form: Many characters in this lesson still carry old pictographic or ideographic traits. Observing 新 (xīn) or 到 (dào) helps students 'see' the meaning rather than memorizing it blindly. 2. The leap from character to word: These characters are rarely used alone; they act as 'building blocks' for very common words. Teaching should focus on this combinatory power: learning one character opens the door to many new words. 3. Memory through context: Learning a character like 热 (rè) together with a real example sentence helps far more than memorizing its meaning in isolation, and brings the student closer to real communication situations.
