/Song Taizong, al ver esta gran obra, se puso muy contento, e incluso se impuso la norma de leer tres volúmenes cada día./Song Taizong, upon seeing this great work, was very pleased, and even set himself the rule of reading three volumes every day.
/A veces, debido a que tenía demasiados asuntos, no podía leer según lo planeado, así que sacaba tiempo para recuperar la lectura./Sometimes, because he had too many things to do, he couldn't read as planned, so he would find time to catch up on his reading.

/Érase una vez un hombre llamado Mao Kong./Once upon a time, there was a man named Mao Kong.
/Un día, le dijo a su amigo Ai Zi: “Hay una persona que crió una pata, y esa pata puso cien huevos de una vez.”/One day, he told his friend Ai Zi: “There's a person who raised a duck, and that duck laid a hundred eggs at once.”
/Ai Zi, al oír esto, negó con la cabeza y dijo: “Eso es imposible.”/Ai Zi, hearing this, shook his head and said: “That's impossible.”
/Mao Kong dijo de nuevo: “El mes pasado cayó del cielo un gran trozo de carne, medía cien metros de largo, y más de treinta metros de ancho.”/Mao Kong said again: “Last month a huge piece of meat fell from the sky, it was a hundred meters long, and over thirty meters wide.”
/Ai Zi volvió a negar con la cabeza y dijo: “Eso es aún más imposible.”/Ai Zi shook his head again and said: “That's even more impossible.”
/Al ver que Ai Zi no le creía, Mao Kong dijo: “Entonces medía sesenta metros de largo... o si no, treinta metros de largo.”/Seeing that Ai Zi didn't believe him, Mao Kong said: “Well then it was sixty meters long... or else it was thirty meters long.”
艾子Ài Zǐ听到tīngdào这儿zhèr,忍不住rěnbuzhù问wèn他tā:“你Nǐ看见过kànjiànguo世界shìjiè上shàng有yǒu三十米sānshímǐ长cháng的de肉ròu吗ma?/Ai Zi, al oír esto, no pudo evitar preguntarle: “¿Has visto alguna vez en el mundo un trozo de carne de treinta metros de largo?/Ai Zi, hearing this, couldn't help but ask him: “Have you ever seen a piece of meat thirty meters long anywhere in the world?
Have you ever seen a duck that lays a hundred eggs at once?
你Nǐ说的shuōde那块肉nàkuàiròu掉在diàozài什么shénme地方dìfang?/¿En qué lugar cayó ese trozo de carne que dices?/Where did that piece of meat you're talking about fall?
你Nǐ说shuō的de鸭子yāzi是shì哪nǎ一家yìjiā的de呢ne?”/¿De qué familia es esa pata que dices?”/Whose duck is the one you're talking about?”
/Mao Kong no pudo responder, y no tuvo más remedio que decir: “Todo esto lo oí de otras personas en el camino.”/Mao Kong couldn't answer, and had no choice but to say: “I heard all this from other people along the road.”
艾子Ài Zǐ说shuō:“你Nǐ自己zìjǐ都dōu没弄清楚méinòngqīngchu,怎么zěnme就jiù轻易qīngyì相信xiāngxìn呢ne?”/Ai Zi dijo: “Ni tú mismo lo tienes claro, ¿cómo puedes creerlo tan fácilmente?”/Ai Zi said: “You yourself haven't even figured it out, how could you believe it so readily?”
后来Hòulái,艾子Ài Zǐ对duì他的tāde学生们xuéshengmen说shuō:“你们Nǐmen可不能kěbùnéng像xiàng毛空Máo Kōng那样nàyàng'道dào听tīng途tú说shuō'啊a!/Más tarde, Ai Zi les dijo a sus estudiantes: “¡No pueden ser como Mao Kong, escuchando en el camino y contándolo!/Later, Ai Zi said to his students: “You mustn't be like Mao Kong, spreading hearsay picked up along the road!
/Las cosas que se oyen en el camino no son fiables.”/Things heard along the road are unreliable.”
/Hoy en día, la gente usa “escuchar en el camino y contarlo” para referirse a los rumores sin fundamento./Nowadays, people use “hearsay along the road” to refer to unfounded rumors.
