丑chǒu小xiǎo鸭yā/El patito feo/The Ugly Duckling
/Mamá pata estaba incubando huevos en el nido./Mother duck was incubating eggs in her nest.
After incubating them for a while, the other ducklings had hatched, and only the largest egg remained, which still hadn't moved at all, so much so that even mother duck began to lose patience waiting.
/Pasaron varios días más, y finalmente el cascarón de aquel huevo grande se rompió, y de dentro salió un patito, de aspecto muy feo, así que todos empezaron a llamarlo “el patito feo”./Several more days passed, and finally the shell of that big egg broke, and out crawled a duckling, with a very ugly appearance, so everyone called him “the ugly duckling.”
The ugly duckling came to the riverside, and the other ducklings all began scolding him at once.
连Lián鸭yā妈妈māma也yě看不起kànbuqǐ他tā:“丑Chǒu东西dōngxi,最好zuìhǎo离lí我wǒ远yuǎn一点儿yìdiǎnr!”/Hasta mamá pata lo despreciaba: “Bicho feo, mejor mantente lejos de mí.”/Even mother duck looked down on him: “Ugly thing, you'd better stay far away from me.”
/Al oír estas palabras, el patito feo se sintió muy dolido, y se alejó llorando a escondidas./Hearing these words, the ugly duckling felt very hurt, and walked away crying secretly.
/El patito feo llegó a otro lugar, donde había muchos patos descansando./The ugly duckling came to another place, where there were many ducks resting.
丑chǒu小xiǎo鸭yā走zǒu上前shàngqián说shuō:“叔叔shūshu阿姨们āyímen,收下shōuxià我wǒ吧ba!/El patito feo se acercó y dijo: “Tíos, tías, ¡acéptenme, por favor!/The ugly duckling stepped forward and said: “Uncles, aunties, please take me in!
我Wǒ没有méiyǒu家jiā,肚子dùzi也yě很hěn饿了è le!”/No tengo hogar, y también tengo mucha hambre.”/I have no home, and I'm also very hungry!”
那些Nàxiē鸭子yāzi不理bùlǐ他tā,还hái说shuō:“你Nǐ长得zhǎngde太tài丑了chǒule,谁shéi愿意yuànyì收下shōuxià你nǐ呀ya!”/Aquellos patos no le hicieron caso, e incluso dijeron: “Eres demasiado feo, ¿quién iba a querer aceptarte?”/Those ducks ignored him, and even said: “You're too ugly, who would want to take you in!”
/El patito feo no tuvo más remedio que salir corriendo llorando otra vez./The ugly duckling once again had no choice but to run off crying.
/El patito feo llegó frente a una casita de madera destartalada./The ugly duckling came to a run-down wooden house.
In the house lived an old woman, and also a cat and an old hen.
/Ellos acogieron al patito feo, pero no le tenían mucho cariño./They took the ugly duckling in, but didn't really like him.
/Al cabo de unos días, el patito feo no tuvo más remedio que marcharse./After a few days, the ugly duckling had no choice but to leave.
The ugly duckling was too ugly, and all the animals looked down on him.
Day after day passed, winter came, and the river water froze too.
/El patito feo, hambriento y cansado, finalmente se desmayó sobre el hielo./The ugly duckling, hungry and exhausted, finally fainted on the ice.
Very early in the morning, a farmer passed by, and saw the ugly duckling lying motionless on the ice, so he took him home.
After a long while, the ugly duckling slowly regained consciousness.
The children played with him, but the ugly duckling thought they were coming to hit him, and terrified, flew out through the doorway, hid in the forest, and never dared to come back again.
/El invierno pasó, llegó la primavera, el tiempo se fue calentando poco a poco, y sin darse cuenta, el patito feo se convirtió en un pequeño cisne./Winter passed, spring came, the weather gradually grew warm, and without realizing it, the ugly duckling grew into a little swan.
His feathers were shiningly white, his neck was long and supple, his long wings were very strong, and he was extremely beautiful.
/Ah, resulta que aquel gran huevo que mamá pata había incubado al final era un huevo de cisne./Ah, it turned out that big egg mother duck had incubated at the end was actually a swan egg.
/Un día, un grupo de cisnes pasaba por allí./One day, a flock of swans passed by there.
The little swan wanted very much to be with them, so he gathered his courage, and flew toward that flock of beautiful swans.
/Los cisnes lo rodearon, lo besaron con el pico, y nadaron y jugaron juntos con él./Those swans surrounded him, nuzzled him with their beaks, and swam and played together with him.
大家Dàjiā都dōu说shuō:“多duō美的měide天鹅tiān'é呀ya!/Todos decían: “¡Qué cisne tan hermoso!/Everyone said: “What a beautiful swan!
看Kàn,新来xīnlái的de那nà只zhī天鹅tiān'é最美zuìměi了le,那么nàme漂亮piàoliang,那么nàme好看hǎokàn!”/Miren, ese cisne recién llegado es el más hermoso de todos, qué bonito, qué precioso.”/Look, that newly arrived swan is the most beautiful of all, so pretty, so lovely!”
The little swan, hearing everyone's praise, lowered his head shyly.
/Qué feliz se sentía ahora, pero jamás podría olvidar aquellos días en que todavía era el patito feo./How happy he felt now, but he could never forget those days when he was still the ugly duckling.
