电子diànzǐ计算机的jìsuànjīde世界shìjiè/El mundo de los ordenadores electrónicos/The World of Electronic Computers
During the Second World War, due to the development of science and technology, there was an urgent need for a new fast calculating tool.
/De esta manera, nació el primer ordenador electrónico./In this way, the first electronic computer was born.
This computer was named “ENIAC,” and was successfully developed by American scientists in 1946.
/Pesaba más de 30 toneladas, y podía hacer 5000 operaciones de suma o 400 operaciones de multiplicación por segundo./It weighed over 30 tons, and could perform 5000 addition operations or 400 multiplication operations per second.
At the time, this calculation speed was already the fastest there was.
/Pero, la “ENIAC” aún no era perfecta, y su programación todavía necesitaba mejoras./But, “ENIAC” wasn't yet perfect, and its programming still needed improvement.
/El profesor estadounidense John von Neumann, tras investigar las semejanzas y diferencias entre el cerebro humano y el ordenador, propuso un nuevo principio de funcionamiento para los ordenadores electrónicos, estableciendo un hito en la historia del desarrollo de la informática, por lo cual fue aclamado como “el padre del ordenador electrónico”./American professor John von Neumann, after researching the similarities and differences between the human brain and the computer, proposed a new working principle for electronic computers, establishing a milestone in the history of computer development, and for this he was hailed as “the father of the electronic computer.”
In 1947, the world's first electronic computer company was founded in the United States, and the first electronic computer produced by this company was used in the presidential election the very next year.
On election day, as soon as the voting ended, the computer had already calculated the election results, and based on this people announced that Eisenhower had defeated Truman, becoming the new president of the United States.
At the time, this electronic computer, just like the newly elected president, became news that caused a nationwide sensation.
From the birth of the first electronic computer until now, the computer has already been updated through several generations.
/Actualmente, los ordenadores electrónicos se aplican ampliamente en todos los campos, provocando así una enorme transformación en la vida social humana./Currently, electronic computers are widely applied in every field, thereby bringing about a huge transformation in human social life.
Its development has opened up a new era for human society, and its usefulness will also become ever greater.
Pedagogical Commentary: My computer: technology and network vocabulary: 1. The transparency of form: Observing 容 (róng) or 网 (wǎng) helps connect the character's shape to its meaning, instead of memorizing it blindly. 2. The leap from character to word: These characters are rarely used alone; learning one opens the door to many new words. 3. Memory through context: Learning a character like 资 (zī) together with a real sentence helps far more than memorizing its meaning in isolation.
